Local scouts lead pledge, tell council groups are active in Parker

Cassandra Klinker, a first-class scout with Troop 20 25, led the pledge of allegiance and told the Parker Town Council about her troop’s activities Thursday evening.
"My name is Cassandra Klinker. I run as chaplain's aide as a first class scout in troop 20 25," Klinker said, adding the troop was founded in 2019 and has about 12 active scouts. Ender Ewing, who identified himself as part of Troop 88, told the council, "Our troop is very active in this community, and we believe we could do much better." Sam Albrecht, who introduced multiple troops, identified himself as scoutmaster for Troop 20 25. Ross Ewing, scoutmaster for Troop 88, described recent Eagle projects and volunteer work, saying the troop completed an Eagle project at the disc golf course and added gravel at the dog park.
The speakers described scouting as a venue for community service and leadership development. "Service, citizenship, community, nation, world, and leadership" were cited by scout leaders as program emphases, and Councilman Hefta praised scouts for skills that can help in military and civic careers.
The remarks occurred during the meeting’s public comment period and were ceremonial in nature; council did not take action on the topics raised.
Council chairing staff reminded speakers that public comment items receive no council dialogue and that the period is time-limited to three minutes per speaker and 30 minutes total for the session.
