North Ridgeville City Council on June 2 adopted Ordinances 2025-85 and 2025-86, approving sale of certain personal property under Ohio law and adding emergency clauses so the items can be sold immediately.
Council cited the risk of depreciation for unused equipment as the reason for the emergency clauses. The mayor explained that the city normally uses the emergency clause “so we can get the items sold, immediately. And the reason for that is that, you know, the items are sitting unused and they lose value over time.”
Council identified the property in the meeting: Ordinance 2025-85 covers a Chevy Silverado and a snow plow; Ordinance 2025-86 covers a tire mounting/demounting machine that has already been replaced. Both ordinances referenced Ohio law governing sale of municipal personal property and were adopted after dispensation of second and third readings. Roll call recorded unanimous yes votes from Swank, Schaefer, Abens, Winkle, Awig, De Vries and Jacobs.
