The City Council adopted resolutions declaring its intent to levy assessments and preliminarily approved engineer’s reports for three maintenance assessment districts — lighting maintenance (District 87‑1), parkway and median maintenance (District 91‑1) and drainage maintenance (District 95‑3) — and set a public hearing to finalize levies.
Public Works Director Fred Camarillo told the council the three districts together have estimated revenues of $494,003 and estimated expenses of $618,284 for the coming fiscal year. The lighting district showed an estimated deficit of about $55,822 and would require general‑fund subsidy; the parkway and median district has a shortfall covered by an existing beginning fund balance; and the drainage district has an estimated small deficit but carries a larger fund balance.
Camrillo also told the council the city is working with state wildlife authorities on potential permitting to treat vegetation in the Bubbling Springs Creek Corridor. If the city obtains a permit, staff would plan baseline monitoring, consultant follow‑up and ongoing monitoring, and return to council with a revised plan and costs. The council unanimously approved the resolutions and set the required public hearing date for the next step of the process.
