Solarize Kenmore offers free rooftop assessments; intake form must be filed by July 4

Kenmore's Solarize Kenmore campaign is offering free rooftop solar assessments and group-pricing discounts through a program partner, Olympia Community Solar, and residents who fill out an intake form by July 4 are guaranteed the program pricing, Climate Action Program Manager Nina Rasmussen said.

The program is intended to lower cost and complexity for homeowners and businesses by vetting reputable installers, negotiating set pricing and providing education. "They vet reputable solar installers for this program. They look at workmanship warranties, the types of materials that they're using, their overall reputation," Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen described the process: interested residents sign up for a free assessment, a vetted installer inspects the roof and provides a proposal sized to the household’s energy use and roof characteristics; signing a contract is optional after the assessment. "So they're not they're not signing a contract or anything upfront. That's all free just to get that assessment," she said.

Rasmussen said the program uses group-purchasing discounts to lower costs and aims to dispel misinformation by connecting homeowners with vetted firms. The Solarize Kenmore round referenced in the interview runs through July 4 for guaranteed pricing on the group rate; after that date participants can still be connected with the vetted installers but pricing may not be locked in.
