“Please accept my resignation effective 06/04/2025 at 5PM,” Manilla wrote in the letter presented to the council. She thanked residents and staff and said she would continue to support the town from outside the dais.
Under the town charter council must appoint a successor to fill the vacant seat within 30 days or follow statutory replacement procedures. Councilmembers immediately discussed options: use the pool of recently qualified candidates who ran in the last municipal election, advertise the vacancy for additional applicants, or call a special meeting to appoint a successor. Staff will contact the candidates who had previously qualified for council as a first step and report to council before the scheduled special meeting.
Council scheduled a special meeting for June 10 at 5 p.m. to consider applications and possible appointments and asked staff to solicit interested, qualified residents if any additional applicants wish to be considered.
