The Rio Grande City Commission on May 20 authorized staff to advertise for bids on a library expansion project that would add approximately 1,300 square feet, including restrooms and storage space.
Project staff presented final construction drawings developed with Ramirez Construction and planning staff. The planned expansion adds roughly 72 by 20 feet of building area, one new men’s restroom, one women’s restroom and additional storage to support library programming. The commission voted to approve the plans and authorize the city to solicit competitive bids.
Library staff told the commission the work will improve public-service space and allow expanded programming; no construction contract was awarded at the meeting. Staff said they will return with bid results and a recommended contract award when the procurement process is complete.
