The Davis Education Foundation was named Davis County's best charity and announced a $1 million grant from Intermountain Health to expand career pathways at the Catalyst Center; the foundation also reported multiple fundraising events and educator awards this spring.
The Davis Education Foundation reported several awards, fundraisers and grants to the Davis School District Board of Education, including a $1,000,000 grant from Intermountain Health to expand career pathways at the district's Catalyst Center.
"First off, the Davis Education Foundation was named best charity of Davis County," Vice President Emily Price said during her committee report. She listed recent Foundation activities, including the Outstanding New Teacher award to Kylie Blake of South Clearfield Elementary and more than $10,000 in funds raised for Catalyst Center events.
Price told the board the foundation hosted Unified Golf Clinics for more than 300 junior-high athletes and peer leaders and partnered with the district to honor 45 educators at the Best of Davis awards. She said more than $10,000 in scholarships were created in 529 accounts and that the Murdoch Family Foundation contributed to teacher and student support.
The foundation also announced a large philanthropic investment: a $1,000,000 Intermountain Health grant to expand career pathways at the Catalyst Center. Price said the grant will be used to expand career-pathway programming but did not provide a detailed breakdown in the meeting remarks.
Price also listed upcoming events and fundraising opportunities, including a gala and child-focused events in early August. She thanked foundation staff and community partners for their support of district programs.
Board members applauded the foundation's work and its partnerships with local businesses and nonprofit funders.
