City of Alpharetta economic development staff gave a partner update, reporting on recent and planned marketing activities and community partnerships.
Staff said they participated in SelectUSA in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the state of Georgia and that the state pavilion’s placement drew strong attention. Staff said they had productive conversations with state project managers and companies and have follow-up underway.
Staff said they will attend Bio International in Boston in two weeks to learn about the life-sciences and biotech sector and to network with companies that may consider Alpharetta for expansion. The Metro Atlanta Chamber is hosting a reception during the conference that the city is supporting.
Charlotte, speaking for staff, also described two local partnership items: a city sponsorship of the Alpharetta Business Association’s lunch-and-learn series to support small-business education, and a $13,712 donation from the Alpharetta Business Association to the Alpha Loop Foundation to fund five wayfinding signs in the downtown area, including one in the parking deck. Staff said the signs aim to help residents and visitors locate the Alpha Loop’s Phase 1 starting point behind City Hall.
Staff asked whether members had questions; none were raised. The authority adjourned following the partner update.
