Alpharetta council approves city-code changes on occupational licenses, taxes at second reading
Summary
At second reading on June 2 the City Council unanimously approved amendments to the city code affecting occupational licenses, business registration and occupation taxes; staff said no changes were made since first reading and recommended adoption.
Miss S Wine, the city attorney, read the ordinance for a second reading at the June 2 public hearing and said there were no changes since the first reading on May 19.
The ordinance amends chapter 28 (occupational licenses) and related sections of city code to adjust annual license fees, update business-registration requirements and add enforcement and penalties, according to the language read on the record.
Councilman Brady moved to approve the ordinance and Councilman Haidt seconded the motion. The council voted unanimously to adopt the text amendments on second reading; the mayor announced the motion passed.
City staff and Director Harris noted they were available to answer technical questions but reported no substantive edits since the first hearing. No members of the public spoke for or against the measure during the hearing.
The ordinance will become effective on the dates provided within the adopted language. Staff said any implementation steps and notices to affected businesses will follow based on the effective dates stated in the ordinance language.
