City reports progress on Kenilworth stormwater work; Hillwood resurfacing deferred pending Birmingham Water project

City staff provided an update June 2 on the Kenilworth stormwater project, reporting that a small retaining wall between 433 and 435 Kilmer was under construction and expected to be finished within days.
Staff said final grading and landscaping will follow completion of the retaining wall and that a contractor will install a fence along the hill on Hillmark and perform some gutter work. The original plan included resurfacing Hillwood, but staff said Birmingham Water is scheduled to install a new water line in three to four weeks and the city will defer resurfacing until the utility work is complete so Birmingham Water can repave the road.
No committee action was required; staff said more updates will be provided as the work completes.
