Decatur council seeks outside expertise on proposed 30-vehicle Enterprise fleet lease

City staff said the item was previously tabled from the May 19 meeting and that Enterprise representatives had presented the plan at a May work session. Staff noted the city’s FY budget included $500,000 for vehicles in the general fund and said the first-year lease payment shown in the presentation was about $353,000.
Procurement staff added that Enterprise would be offered through a Sourcewell national cooperative contract, meaning the vendor pricing and negotiation had been done on a broader scale. Still, several councilmembers asked to hear from outside purchasers and from municipal peers who have used the program.
Speakers urged more granular detail about which city fleets (for example Community Development) would see reductions in vehicle counts under the proposal and requested clearer justification for reductions from eight to five vehicles in one department cited by staff.
