Committee approves Randolph Township mill-and-resurface project using motor fuel tax funds

The McLean County Land Use and Transportation Committee approved a resolution to proceed with a March 27, 2025 project letting for a mill-and-resurface in Randolph Township, funded with motor fuel tax funds.
Mr. Stokes, a staff member presenting county highway projects, said the original pavement was constructed around 2007–2008 and that H.J. Eppel (the apparent contractor) submitted a competitive bid. Because the project is funded with motor fuel tax funds, it required committee approval. Stokes said the county had bundled a separate Empire Township project for bidding efficiency; that project will use local funds and will not require county board action.
Committee members approved a request that staff send a letter approving the March 27 letting and to proceed with contracting; the motion passed on a voice vote.
Stokes said the county expects the work to be completed in the fall and noted that smaller projects can produce variable bid outcomes. No dollar amounts or specific contract terms were read into the record during the meeting.
