Commission awards $838,940 CMAQ dust-control contract to Dustbusters Enterprises

The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners on June 3 awarded the fiscal year 2025 CMAQ dust-control contract to Dustbusters Enterprises LLC for $838,940, accepting county public-works staff’s recommendation after the Wyoming Department of Transportation issued concurrence.

Public Works Director Gene Legurski told the commission the county had rejected the bids at the prior meeting because YDOT concurrence was pending, but the state agency had provided concurrence the day before the June 3 meeting. "We did receive concurrence yesterday afternoon from Y DOT on this bid," Legurski said, and he recommended the board remove the previously required concurrence language from the award motion.

Commissioner Slaughter moved to award the bid and authorize the chairman to sign necessary documents; Commissioner Richards seconded the motion. The commissioners voted unanimously in favor.

Legurski said the contract bundles dust-control work and related CEMEC work to maintain consistent contracting across county areas that qualify for CMAQ funding. He estimated the work would cover a combination of roughly 85 miles across county roads and specified segments in Wamsut and North Bad Road. The award authorizes county staff to finalize the contract and proceed with project administration and oversight.

The contractors are expected to begin work under the awarded contract according to standard project schedules; the county will return to the commission if any significant schedule or cost changes occur.
