Summary
Council appointed Phil Robinson as mayor pro tem and Donna Renee Anderson as deputy mayor pro tem, appointed James Craig to the airport board and approved four park board appointees; a zoning board appointment was postponed.
The Terrell City Council on June 3 made several personnel and board appointments and one postponement.
Mayor Ronnie Velasquez moved to appoint Phil Robinson (District 5) as mayor pro tem and Donna Renee Anderson (District 2) as deputy mayor pro tem; council approved the appointments by voice vote. Council members thanked outgoing mayor pro tem Stephanie Holmes Thomas for her service.
On boards, council appointed James Craig to the Airport Board to fill a vacancy left by Harold Wilson, who has served three terms and is ineligible for reappointment. Council then approved park-board appointments and reappointments: Savannah Nordstrom and Dwight Malone were reappointed; Brandon Batres and Kelly Hardeman were named to fill other seats. The council noted that one applicant (Bridal — name in record) had submitted an application shortly before the meeting and would be seated under the appropriate oversight.
The council postponed action on a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Adjustments after discussion; Dr. Kamika Hoskins (whose term expired) is not eligible for reappointment after serving three terms. Councilmember Phil Robinson moved to postpone the ZBA appointment until the next meeting; the motion carried.
Staff indicated the appointments fall under the mayor's or designated council members' oversight depending on the board, and that staff would complete appointment paperwork and notify board members of term dates.
