Kenosha County board urges state to fund circuit courts with $70 million request

The Kenosha County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed Resolution 108 urging Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Legislature to appropriate an additional $70 million in the 2025–27 state budget to support circuit court operations statewide.
Supervisor John Morrissey moved the resolution and Supervisor Kirby seconded. During discussion Supervisor Decker successfully moved a technical amendment to insert the word “County” so the line reads “members of the Kenosha County legislative delegation.” The amendment passed and the resolution passed unanimously by the board members present.
Supervisor Morrissey told the board the legislative committee had passed the resolution unanimously. The measure is an advocacy request to the governor and state lawmakers; no fiscal mechanism or county appropriation was included in the county resolution.
