School board approves two time-sensitive procurements for food service and managed printing

The Martin County School Board held a special meeting June 3 and approved two time-sensitive procurement items: a food service contract and a managed print service request for proposals.

Jeff Carver, the district’s director of purchasing, told the board the items were time sensitive and intended for the May agenda but were delayed. "These were 2 time sensitive that were intended to go in May," Carver said. He explained the food-service item was delayed because the vendor had not provided required information and the managed-print RFP generated many vendor questions that required additional time to address.

Carver said the sooner the food-service procurement is finalized, the better it will be for the beginning of school because the food-service vendor will need to implement menu changes. He also said the staff member who oversees printing is scheduled to retire in June and district staff wanted that person available to help integrate the new vendor. "The current- the staff member that is over printing is, scheduled to retire at the June," Carver said.

The board approved the agenda for the special meeting by motion of Ms. Russell, seconded by Dr. Moriarty, and subsequently approved agenda items 3.01 and 3.02. On each item the chair called for the voice vote and members responded "Aye." The motions were recorded as moved and seconded by board members and approved by voice vote; the board did not read a roll‑call tally on the record.

No substantive details of the vendor selections, contract values or vendor names were provided on the public record during the meeting. Board members asked for clarification on menu changes and were directed to food‑service staff for details in subsequent materials.

The meeting concluded without public comment on those procurement items.
