The Village of Lisle board voted unanimously on June 2 to amend Title 2 of the Lisle Village Code to reestablish an Economic Development Commission (EDC) and confirmed initial appointments to the commission.
Director Erpmaud (presented as the staff lead) told the board the commission revives a body first established in 1996 and dissolved previously after a separate LADP process reduced its role. The ordinance as approved creates a seven‑member commission appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the board, and adds up to three nonvoting advisory members drawn from the business community to provide input without creating quorum issues.
Mayor Mary Jo Mullen and trustees discussed the EDC’s intended role: to provide recommendations on business retention and expansion, input on economic development strategy, and collaboration with village staff to increase the tax base and employment opportunities. The board confirmed Richard Wilkie as chair and appointed Angelina Herrera, Joseph (Joe) Knott, Jennifer Rizzo and Mark Rogers to the commission for the terms announced (terms ending April 30, 2027 or 2028 as stated on the record). Trustees indicated staff will serve as liaison, Trustee Olsen will serve as a board liaison, and the commission will set meeting times after members are seated.
