CHAS Health updates council on school‑based clinics, new Ferris site and mobile dental services

Representatives of CHAS Health told council members they are operating school‑based health clinics that provide primary care, behavioral health and pharmacy access to students; the organization described recent openings and planned expansions.
"We opened this location April of 2020. Since that time, we've seen 640 unique patients," a CHAS Health senior director said, describing services at North Central High School and plans to open a Ferris High School clinic for the 2025–26 school year.
Why it matters: school‑based clinics increase access to preventive care, sports physicals, vaccinations and behavioral health for students and staff. CHAS said it will add mobile dental services later this year — a mobile dental unit scheduled to arrive late in the calendar year will provide exams, x‑rays and sealants — and will offer summer behavioral health groups focused on coping skills and resilience at participating high schools.
CHAS staff said school clinics are open to students during the school day and after school hours for enrolled students; outreach and pharmacy delivery are also available in some locations. Council members asked about community access, summer scheduling and the scope of services; CHAS representatives confirmed after‑school access for Spokane Public Schools students and said summer programs would operate at participating sites.
No council action was required. CHAS staff said they will return with operational updates as Ferris High and mobile dental services come online.
