Davie staff preview agricultural map to locate community gardens, nurseries and equestrian sites

Town planning staff presented a new Town of Davie agricultural map June 3 intended to help residents find community gardens, nurseries, fruit stands and equestrian facilities.
Planning and zoning manager David Quigley told the council the Ag and Environmental Committee compiled a list of agricultural businesses and volunteers helped develop the inventory. Staff used the county property-appraiser database as a base layer, added town park sites and committee-submitted businesses, and linked to business web pages with disclaimers noting the town is not responsible for external sites.
Quigley said the map currently shows roughly 30 points of interest plus agricultural-designated parcels and parks. The map uses the town—s existing GIS tools and is intended to be low-cost and easy to update; Quigley said council endorsement in August 2024 led staff to finish the project and that, if the council is comfortable with the concept, the map would go live the next morning.

Next steps: Staff will publish the map on the town website and accept additions from businesses that want to be listed.
