Committee moves forward small CIP stormwater structure repairs for bidding

Public works staff told the committee that several stormwater structures in roadways have failing top sections and frames and recommended preparing and advertising a Small CIP stormwater structure repairs contract.
Jared Larson said the Small CIP program is budgeted at $150,000 per year to address larger maintenance tasks, minor construction and equipment purchases. After system review staff identified multiple failing structures primarily along Pacific Highway and other arterials (South 3320, Southwest 340th, South 350th Street) that exceed in-house capacity for this year.
Larson said available budget for this Small CIP exercise is $150,000, broken into $10,000 for design and inspection, $125,000 for a construction contract and $12,500 contingency (estimated total $147,500). He said individual repairs take one to two days each and the full contracted work could require 30–60 days of construction, with lane closures but not full road closures anticipated.
Staff recommended that council authorize staff to prepare and bid the repair contract and return for authorization and award. The committee moved unanimously to forward Option 1 to the June 17 consent agenda. Councilmember Morrison made the motion; Chair Jared Dovi seconded it.
