Committee to forward 2026–2031 Transportation Improvement Program to public hearing

The committee voted to forward the draft 2026–2031 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to the City Council for adoption following the required public hearing.
Mister Perez presented the six-year TIP, explaining it lists capital transportation projects, must be updated annually and must be financially constrained for the near term to remain eligible for grants. He said there are no new projects proposed in this year’s draft; staff described emphasis on nonmotorized projects, several overlays completed in the prior year, and conceptual work completed on the grade separation study known as "the dip."
Perez told the committee that the city is beginning a Street Safety for All plan that could generate new safety project candidates; because that plan is underway, staff recommended not adding additional safety projects this cycle. Committee members asked whether the absence of new projects was due to funding constraints; Perez said funding and workload both contributed.
The committee unanimously voted to forward the proposed resolution adopting the TIP for a public hearing on June 17. The motion was made by Councilmember Morrison and seconded by Chair Jared Dovi.
