The Board of Selectmen on June 3 voted to appoint Mr. Gillette as the third commissioner on the Town of North Brookfield Water Commission.
James Forman, water department superintendent, told the board the search produced three applicants — Mr. Maher, Mr. Schlegel and Mr. Gillette — and said Gillette’s background in construction and water-treatment plant work made him the preferred pick. The board moved and seconded a motion to appoint him; the motion passed by voice vote. Forman told the board the appointee’s start date would be “next Monday.”
Why it matters: the Water Commission oversees the town’s water enterprise operations and system maintenance. Filling the vacancy restores the commission to a three-member quorum for decisions affecting operations, procurement and coordination with other departments.
The board directed the appointee to coordinate with town staff for onboarding and to see the town clerk to receive official paperwork.
