Student council reports Senior Week activities, sports results and final concerts

Nora, the student council representative, reported to the Nantucket School Committee on June 3 that seniors were in their final week of classes and listed planned spirit-week activities and testing schedules.
Nora said seniors' last day was Friday and the class organized spirit-week events including senior-citizen day, childhood-self day, career day, Whaler Wave Off Day and Future Plan Shirt Day. She reported that the district's MCAS testing (referred to in the meeting as "bridal" in places) would continue through Thursday, and that the district course concert would be held the following day at 7 p.m., featuring NES, NIS, CPS and NHS chorus students.
On athletics, Nora reported both boys and girls lacrosse teams won opening matches in Division 4 state tournament play: boys defeated Lenox Memorial 14–2 and girls beat Wicona Regional 15–4. She also listed upcoming matches including girls tennis hosting Advanced Math and Science Academy and lacrosse matches scheduled at Vito Capizzo Stadium.
Nora noted the high school's drama club had a recent production and commended the students' performances. The student council update was informational and no action was requested of the committee.
