District pursues RACP grants and moves York Avenue sidewalk repairs up 10-year capital plan

The Facilities and Operations Committee on May 27 heard that staff will submit placeholders for two Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant applications and approved moving a sidewalk repair at York Avenue earlier in the district’s 10-year capital plan.
Mister Slaughter said staff plan to submit placeholders this month for two RACP applications: one to help offset high school construction costs and another to fund recommended playground repairs summarized from a district report produced last year. Slaughter said RACP requires a 50% local match and, if awarded, recipients have 10 years to complete the work.
On the 10-year capital plan, staff moved the York Avenue sidewalk project up the schedule after Lansdale Borough reported settled sidewalks creating tripping hazards at the front of the building. Slaughter said the sidewalk work will go out for bid this summer and that ramps at the site had been replaced two to three years earlier.
Committee members discussed supporting grant efforts through local representative outreach. No final grant awards were available at the time of the meeting; staff will prepare formal submissions and work with the district’s professional grant writer and local representatives as needed.
