The Facilities and Operations Committee on May 27 authorized staff to advertise for a request for proposals to hire an environmental monitoring contractor for phases 2 and 3 of the district’s high school renovation project.
District staff said an environmental monitoring consultant is already engaged to oversee abatement; the upcoming RFP will identify the removal contractor and secure an environmental monitoring firm to perform required air testing while abatement and selective demolition proceed.
Mister Slaughter, presenting the item, said the consultant already on board will perform air testing and that the district is preparing bids for the removal contractor. The committee approved permission to advertise the RFP by voice vote with no opposition.
The authorization allows staff to solicit bids for contractors who will perform asbestos and abatement oversight and air monitoring as portions of the building undergo demolition and renovation in upcoming phases. No contract award was made at this meeting; staff will return with RFP responses and a recommended contractor for formal board action.
