The Columbia County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved several routine but consequential property and personnel actions tied to county infrastructure projects and operations.
The board approved an underground easement with Georgia Power to provide new service and relocate a transformer for a county building under construction. Commissioners also approved temporary and permanent easement payments for the newly completed Woodbridge Lift Station.
For the Hereford Farm Road widening project, the board approved multiple right‑of‑way and easement payments to individual landowners, with staff noting the project is paid for with House Bill 170 funds. Staff said these standard negotiations bring right‑of‑way acquisition to approximately 74% complete.
The board also approved an employment agreement for Steven Prather, promoting him from department director to division director as part of budgeted changes; staff said Prather is a contract employee and will have new reports under the reorganization.
All listed motions were approved by the board during the meeting.
