Human resources asks council to correct salary-ordinance misprints affecting GIS and CASA positions

Carrie Wright of Vigo County Human Resources told the council that a review of the county's salary ordinance revealed clerical errors affecting the GIS director and CASA positions; she asked the council to correct the printed ordinance so salaries match the county budget.
"It's budgeted correctly. They did check the budget. The budget's there. It's correct. It's just a misprint in the salary ordinance," Wright said, explaining that copy-and-paste errors left some employees with incorrect amounts listed and omitted the 3% increases for others.
Wright said no additional appropriation is required because the salaries are budgeted correctly; the request to the council is a technical correction to the ordinance so the ordinance aligns with the approved budget. Council members asked no substantive questions and the item was presented for correction in the record.
