The Public Health and Safety Committee authorized waiving formal bidding and purchasing 2026 Ford Expedition special‑service vehicles from Friendly Ford Roselle, Illinois, for up to $157,760.01.
A public‑safety chief said one Expedition was previously approved in the 2025 budget for replacement; the department is seeking authority now to order vehicles that likely will not arrive until 2026 because manufacturer orders are open and delivery timelines have slipped. The chief said payment will be required when the vehicles are received and that the order can be canceled before receipt if a future budget does not approve them.
Committee members approved the waiver and purchase authorization by motion with no opposition. Staff said the step is administrative and intended to secure production slots, not to obligate immediate payment.
