A chief from village public safety told the committee the plan has been updated every five years and that the municipality must adopt it to be eligible for FEMA grants and to assist response and recovery in the event of a major disaster. Committee members moved and seconded the ordinance and recorded the motion as adopted with no opposition.
The ordinance formalizes the village’s participation in the countywide mitigation planning process and is intended to support grant applications and coordinated emergency management activities.
