Board hears Lancaster County Academy graduates’ stories at meeting presentation

Board members and staff said they were moved by the presentations and encouraged the public and board members to attend LCA graduation in person. District presenters described LCA as serving students from multiple sending districts and as providing an alternative pathway to graduation.
Speakers in the clip described personal journeys to graduation. Alumna Ashley Zink, identified in the video as a 2008 Lancaster County Academy graduate and now a fifth‑grade teacher, told the audience, "I was never doubted, turned down on, ashamed, or embarrassed at LCA because of my circumstances." Student speakers Millie and Seth recounted how LCA staff supported them and how the program provided hands-on career experiences; Seth said he will join the Air Force in August and closed with "carpe diem. Seize the day." Board members said the presentation illustrated the value of alternative education pathways.
