The Solanco School District Board approved Murray Insurance’s premium proposal on June 2, with the total insurance package for fiscal year 2025‑26 listed at $411,432 — an increase of roughly $36,000 from the current year.
District presenters attributed most of the increase to higher property-insurance rates driven by flood and related risk trends and to the district having more property to insure. Staff also noted a $500 reduction in cyber insurance premiums, which they said reflects district cyber controls. "All the controls and systems we have put in place to protect our cyber systems," a presenter said.
Board members approved the proposal by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff said the year-over-year increase was under 10 percent overall.
