Elmwood Park graduates earn biliteracy seals, Tiger Scholar honors; district highlights trade pathways

Elmwood Park High School administrators said 31 members of the Class of 2025 earned the Illinois Seal of Biliteracy, and district leaders highlighted expanded college-and-career pathway opportunities and the first local administration of the ASVAB career-aptitude exam.
Dr. Amanda Bridal Rico, principal of Elmwood Park High School, said, “This year, once again, EPHS had a record number of students who took and passed the seal of biliteracy exam.” She also reported a record high exit rate on the ACCESS exam with 45 students passing, measures the school described as indicators of the campus’s language-program success.
Administrators noted the school awarded a gold-and-black cord to students who completed a college-and-career pathway during four years at EPHS, and several students were recognized for trade-program participation with partners including Triton College and the Technology Center of DuPage. Dr. Bridal Rico also said the school invited trade professionals for the college-and-career fair and arranged trips to the Plumbers Hall in Chicago.
School staff said the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) was administered at EPHS for the first time to provide career information and support students considering military service. The principal acknowledged a mix of postsecondary plans among graduates, citing college, trade schools, the military and other paths.
The district announced the Tiger Scholar honor roll (top 5% of the class), naming students who will be placed on the school’s academic wall of fame. The list of Tiger Scholars included Joaquin Raul Aguilar, Yami Yulio Alday, Alyssa Gwen Anderson, Cariana Jasmine Atiles, Natalia Rosalia Chura, Justice Escarpita, Nicole Patrizia Klis, Mary Catherine Kiakos Medrano, Megan Alisa Nettlehorst, Lauren Irene Scheidt, Olivia Rose Shepinski, Olivia Esther Cena and Nel Nina Vinyarchek.
School officials said these recognitions reflect the district’s academic programs and partnerships that aim to support multiple postsecondary pathways for students.
