The Dalton City Council approved an annual contract with Johnson Controls to provide fire-alarm monitoring for the police department’s new property and evidence building.
Police Chief Kason told the council that the city attorney and vendor negotiated contract terms so the department could obtain its certificate of occupancy and occupy the new structure. The chief said the monitoring service costs $750 per year and that funding is available in the police department’s existing budget.
Council approved the contract by motion and voice vote. Staff said the agreement is intended to allow occupancy and ongoing monitoring of fire-safety systems at the newly completed building; no additional funding was requested at the meeting.
