Mayor reports legislative wins, announces June 6 performance facility ribbon-cutting and community events

He said the city did not gain an increase in the local government distributed fund but avoided some costly pension changes. “All in all, a good session,” Lehi said.
The mayor also invited residents to a ribbon-cutting and inaugural concert at the new performance facility next to the museum, 120 East Park Avenue, on June 6 at 6:30 p.m. He said the project is funded entirely by a state grant and fundraising by the Elmhurst Historical Museum Foundation and that no local tax dollars are being used for the facility. Lehi encouraged residents to attend.
Lehi described several recent community events, including a Twilight Trot race that drew about 500 participants. The mayor thanked city staff, specifically Heather Baracus, for managing the Memorial Day parade and noted a strong turnout at Wilder Park for the post-parade service.
Separately, City Manager (unnamed at the meeting) reported that the police department’s neighborhood roll calls have started and are posted on the department’s Facebook page; this week’s sessions will be at the North End in Kenilworth on Tuesday and at Schiller and Maison Street on Thursday at 7 p.m.
These announcements were given as part of the mayor’s reports at the start of the council meeting; no ordinances or budget votes related to the performance facility were conducted during the June 2 meeting.
