Selectmen authorize submission of draft comprehensive plan for state review and approve public mailer

The Board of Selectmen on June 2 authorized the chair to sign a formal request to have the town’s draft comprehensive plan reviewed by the state reviewers and approved a public mailer for the plan’s public hearing.
A staff member explained the document would be sent to the state reviewers (referred to in the meeting as GACF) so they may conduct their review. The staffer said the review process had already begun informally and recommended formal authorization so the state could proceed with an official review. The board voted to authorize the chair to sign the request.
The board also approved a public-mailer — described in the packet as a four-page set of information to be folded into a single trifold 11-by-17 handout — that will announce the public hearing on the comprehensive plan. The mailer and public hearing were approved by motion (moved by Sam, seconded by Ethan); the motion passed with the board saying, “All in favor? So moved.”
The chair and staff said additional appendices and mapping were included in the package for informational purposes; the public hearing mailing will be distributed before the scheduled hearing.
