Cowlitz County commissioners on Tuesday voted to amend county code chapter 5.10 related to music festivals, repealing the existing chapter and replacing it with updated language — primarily to revise insurance requirements and align with state regulations.
“Kathy Frank Baxter, finance director. I'm here for the request to approve, and revise our county code 5.1 o. That's the chapter, related to music festivals, CalWORKs code. And, we have submitted a, an amended, and so we would be repealing the current chapter 5.1 o music festivals and making changes primarily to the insurance requirements,” said Kathy Frank Baxter during her presentation to the board.
Baxter said the code was put into effect several years ago and needed changes to titles and sections to be current and consistent with state rules. The board opened the item for public comment and, after no speakers, moved to approve the amendment.
The motion to amend the county code carried on a voice vote. No specific dollar amounts or new insurance limits were discussed on the record at this meeting; Baxter said the primary changes relate to “section 3 related to the insurance requirements.”
The county will publish the amended code chapter and said staff will follow state regulations for music-festival insurance and permit processing going forward.
