Bonner County approves MOU with Bonner General Hospital and Kaniksu Health for forensic exams

The Bonner County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) among Bonner County, Bonner General Hospital and Kaniksu Health to permit Kaniksu Health staff to perform forensic examinations of victims of violence at Bonner General Hospital.
Bill Wilson summarized the agreement and its purpose: "Kaniksu Health has staff who are capable of doing that, but BGH required a formalized agreement, for all the parties, including us, in order to allow Kaniksu access to the facility at late hours and other things like that." Wilson said Kaniksu Health will provide liability insurance and that Bonner County’s role is primarily coordination. He stated the county will not have any cost associated with the agreement nor any risk created by the additional staff performing examinations.
Wilson recommended approval, saying he had already received support from both other parties. After no public comment and no further board deliberation, the board voted to approve the MOU and authorized the chair to sign administratively.
The meeting record did not include the full terms of the MOU beyond insurance provision and a coordinating role for the county; the signed MOU filed with the clerk will contain the final operational and liability details.
