The Bonner County Board of Commissioners voted to enter into a lease for Lot 33 at Sandpoint Airport that requires the lessee to construct a hangar to county specifications and return the structure to the county at lease end.
Director Shook explained the lease terms to the board: "The lease that was proposed for this lot is a 30 year initial term with a 20 year option at the lessee's discretion." The Bonner County Airports Advisory Board recommended moving forward with the lease, and the board, after no public comment and no additional deliberation, approved the motion and authorized the chair to sign administratively.
Director Shook told commissioners the Airports Advisory Board will revisit terms for other lots at a July 18 special advisory-board meeting and that staff are reviewing term lengths and rates "based on current market values and current demand" to improve airport sustainability.
The lease requires the hangar to meet county specifications and states the hangar will revert to county ownership at the end of the lease term. The board did not discuss a specific lessee name or rental rate during the public meeting.
Documents related to the lease and Advisory Board recommendations are filed with the county airport office and the county clerk.
