The Fuquay Varina Board of Commissioners on June 2 approved a zoning map amendment for 1.3 acres at 834 Wilbon Road, changing the parcel from Residential Agricultural to Residential Medium Density Conditional to allow redevelopment with single-family homes.
Planning director Pam Davidson said proposed conditions limit future development to single-family homes, allow for only one shared driveway off Wilbon Road, and provide architectural standards intended to fit the area’s character. At its May 19 meeting the planning board unanimously recommended approval.
John Adcock, attorney for the applicant, said the parcel is a redevelopment of a lot where a house burned several years ago and described the application as consistent with surrounding zoning. “There was a home on that property that did burn, several years ago. This is a redevelopment of that lot,” Adcock said.
The board approved the rezoning by motion and voice vote. The conditional zoning attaches use and architectural limitations; further design and construction details will be resolved through the town’s site-plan and permitting processes.
