City staff told the Board of Public Works that the drainage and public-utility easement for Parcel 7, located at 85 East Main Street, has been signed by the property owners and is needed for utility relocation tied to the Main Street design project. The board voted to accept and execute the easement document.
On the related parcel acquisition, staff said an offer was made for Parcel 203 but rejected by the owner, and the board authorized staff to move forward with condemnation for that parcel to keep the Main Street design project on schedule. "So we're recommending, the board accept and execute this drainage and utility easement for that person," a staff member said. On the condemnation item, staff asked the board to authorize action after negotiations failed.
Board approval covered both the easement acceptance and the authorization to begin condemnation proceedings; staff indicated the easement document had been prepared by the legal department and signed by the property owner. The board did not change the staff recommendations at the meeting.
