Greenwood board waives $2.35 mowing invoice after resident cites medical emergency

"I came here today to, appeal a notice that I got for my lawn," Jones said, adding that he has a severe bleeding disorder and that the timing of the weather and his medical condition had prevented him from maintaining the yard sooner.
The board granted Jones’s appeal and waived the invoice for the city mowing service. The waiver followed a brief review of the inspection timeline: a notice of correction was posted on the property on the 7th, the board’s staff re-inspected the property on the 15th, and the city contractor cut the grass on the 16th. Jones said he had earlier cut the grass on April 28 and that he picked up his mower on the 16th; he also said the landlord — not he — received the invoice.
Board members discussed the billing record and Jones’s explanation before approving the waiver. Board members present at roll call were Mister Redford, Mister Hoover and Mister Coleman. The board’s approval was unanimous.
The board’s action was limited to waiving the single invoice for the mowing service; no change to the city’s enforcement procedures was adopted during the meeting. Jones said he plans to maintain the property going forward and thanked the board for its time.
