The Lakeland School System district office officially relocated to 3009 Davies Plantation Road, and the district reported progress on a new video board and sound system at the high‑school football stadium, work the superintendent said the city of Lakeland fully funded.
Superintendent Dr. Horrell told the board staff moved office operations out of Lakeland Preparatory School and Lakeland Elementary School and that principals met in the new district office the same day. He said the building had been painted and had new interior walls and that district staff were settling in.
Horrell also updated the board on stadium work: infrastructure for a new video board in the end zone was complete and the boards and a new sound system were expected to be installed imminently. He specifically thanked the city of Lakeland for covering the cost of the stadium video board and sound system, saying the upgrades would enhance football, lacrosse, soccer, band and other events.
The superintendent added the district was in final preconstruction phases for an outdoor pavilion at Lakeland Elementary School, hoping for completion by the first day of school or shortly thereafter. Horrell also noted recent student achievements, including Lakeland Preparatory High School’s baseball team winning a state championship and fine‑arts recognitions; those items were presented as community announcements rather than agenda actions.
