Resident urges annexation; council says annexation committee will pursue signatures

Andy Roberts of Sun Valley urged the council during public forum to move forward on efforts to annex his area into the city.
Roberts told the council the group ‘‘is still trying to find out what’s going on with putting this into the city’’ and asked for expedited action. He said residents in the area are willing to participate and sign petitions.
The mayor responded that the annexation committee is aware of the request and that the city needs to ‘‘put together a team and just go out and start knocking on doors, getting signatures.’’ The mayor told Roberts the committee would meet in the coming weeks to organize the process.
Council members did not take a formal action on the record at the June 2 meeting; the mayor and the annexation committee were expected to follow up with a meeting and signature-gathering plan.
