County Engineer Brian Horschowski opened three bids during a public bid letting for project LGO4‑73‑70, a twin 12-by-6-by-75 reinforced concrete box culvert on 160th Street in the southwest quarter of Section 34, Township 78 North, Range 3 West. As read at the meeting, the low bid was from Iowa Bridge & Culvert of Washington, Iowa, at $396,937.00; competing bids included Brent Construction at $505,447.15 and Triple B Construction at $446,230.50.
After checking the bid math, county staff recommended awarding the contract to Iowa Bridge & Culvert and the board approved the recommendation by voice vote. The county will send contract documents to Iowa Bridge & Culvert and return to the board to approve the final contract once paperwork is complete.
Horschowski told the board the county follows unit prices as the governing contract method and that the board might award the contract at the same meeting if checks on the bids were satisfactory; staff later confirmed the low bidder and will proceed with contract execution.
