Village honors Eileen Malloy Langdon for 30 years as police social worker

The Village of Carol Stream Board of Trustees adopted Resolution No. 3426 on June 2 honoring Eileen Malloy Langdon for 30 years of employment as a police social worker with the Carol Stream Police Department.

Trustee McCarthy read the resolution into the record, reciting Langdon’s hiring date of May 8, 1995, her work providing crisis intervention and trauma‑informed care, and her role since 2015 offering specialized grief counseling to children of fallen officers through the Concerns of Police Survivors initiative in Washington, D.C. The resolution also noted Langdon’s service as president of the Association of Police Social Workers from 2018 to 2022 and her work as a mental‑health advisor and consultant to statewide task forces.

After the board adopted the resolution by roll call vote, Langdon addressed the trustees and audience. "I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity to serve the majority of my career here," she said, describing her path from child‑welfare work to middle‑school social work and then to police social work in Carol Stream. She told the board she felt fortunate to "find my work, I found my people, and I found my place." Langdon also spoke about the department’s broader role and the importance of social services in the village.

Trustees and the village manager congratulated Langdon during the meeting. Several trustees recommended using portions of her remarks in recruitment efforts and praised the social‑services unit's contributions to resident welfare.
