County staff reviewed the fair’s event schedule: opening night July 10 will feature ATV drags, July 11 will host TQ Midget races, July 12 the demo derby, July 13 truck drags and a parade (lineup at 2 p.m., start at 4 p.m.), July 14 a tractor pull, and July 15 a rodeo with barrel racing. Chris Ramey was identified in the meeting as the fair parade coordinator and provided route details and start times; staff said the parade will move through the fairgrounds except for two semis that must go straight at the park entrance.
Staff reported site improvements tied to the county’s Ready2 project: tiling work on the track and horse arena to improve drainage uncovered several plugged sections of tile and tree‑root blockages that county crews cleared. The county’s prior financial contribution to the Ready2 project (described during the meeting as an original $1,200,000 county commitment) was referenced as part of the fairgrounds improvements; staff said excess project funds and credits from returned materials will be reconciled and documented.
Commissioners noted that porta‑potty bids will be reviewed at the June 16 meeting and reiterated schedule and vendor requirements. Staff also encouraged community groups and vendors to use the county social media channels and fair committee contacts for event information and route maps.
