Commissioners discuss chip‑seal schedule, contractor coordination and defer enterprise‑fleet contract

After reviewing the numbers and comparing priorities, the board declined to move forward at this time and decided to wait to see how vehicle replacements proceed for higher‑priority departments — specifically the sheriff’s office and replacement of dump trucks — before committing to a new fleet contract. Commissioners asked for a deeper cost analysis and prioritization of heavy equipment (dump trucks) before approving new pickup replacements.
No formal procurement decision was recorded for the chip‑seal work at the June 2 meeting; the board recorded direction to staff on public notification and to re‑examine the enterprise fleet proposal with additional data.
