The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee on June 2 recognized a large group of retirees whose combined years of service the superintendent said total 557 years to the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District.
Dr. Smith read a statement describing the retirees’ collective service, noting four employees with more than 30 years, eight with 25 or more years and 16 with 20 or more years of service to the district. He said the district would present each retiree with an official citation from the Massachusetts State Senate and a gift from the district.
The superintendent called names of retirees to be recognized, acknowledged that not all could attend, and invited those present to come forward for group photographs and applause. Committee members offered congratulations on behalf of the district.
Why it matters: The recognition highlights staff retention and institutional knowledge in the district and marks transitions that may affect staffing and succession planning.
Additional details: The superintendent framed the collective years of service as a notable measure of institutional memory and thanked retirees for their dedication to students and families. The district said each retiree will receive the senate citation and a district gift.
