Robin McDonald, Milton zoning manager, presented a small text amendment to the Unified Development Code to change how assembly‑hall/event facilities are permitted.
McDonald said the amendment would remove the “by right” (P) designation and replace it with “use permit” (U) for assembly‑hall/event facility uses in all traditional zoning districts except form‑based code, which means the uses would require a use permit in C‑1 and MIX districts. She said the Planning Commission reviewed the item and unanimously recommended approval; there were no public comments.
Council member Andrea Verhoeff moved approval and Council member Juliet Johnson seconded. The council voted unanimously to adopt the text amendment at the meeting’s zoning agenda.
The change affects the UDC use table and will require applicants who propose assembly‑hall or event‑facility uses in the identified districts to seek a use permit and comply with any conditions attached to that permit.
