Commerce consolidates apprenticeship rules to remove contradictions and outdated references

The Administrative Rules Subcommittee reviewed and approved a consolidated apprenticeship rule from the Department of Commerce's Office of Skills Development that replaces multiple overlapping rules.
Stephanie Isaacs, director of the Office of Skills Development, joined by Derek Daniels, director of the Office of Apprenticeship, and Jake Windley, director of legislative affairs, said the new consolidated rule removes contradictions, updates outdated statutory references and clarifies oversight functions. Isaacs said the rule was presented to each apprenticeship oversight board and that boards approved it; a public hearing on Jan. 31 produced no comments.
Members thanked Isaacs for work across districts; no one signed up to speak for or against the rule and the subcommittee approved it without objection.
